The modern definition of a sigil, largely influenced by the work of artist Austin Osman Spare, is “an inscribed or painted symbol considered to have magical power.” This workshop introduces various techniques—both in the traditional written language reduction model and the symbolic model—to create such magical sigils. Participants can attend this workshop as a stand-alone, or as a continuation of the work beginning with the Dream Incubation and Interpretation workshop and the Friday Vernal Equinox ritual. Materials provided.
Cherise experiences her art as taking place between words, with the images in her paintings rising form her unconscious mind. Her art draws from emotional and personal experiences he has witnessed in dream, memory, and emotion. These images depict symbolism oscillating between thought and ‘no-thought.’ In acts of alchemical art, Cherise transforms the mental and emotional chaos of life from an internal invisible force to an external still image.
Ann-Louise Miranda, expresses her art through the mediums of ceramic, dance, sculpture and painting. She has been a practicing witch and reiki master for over 25 years. She has trained under Jeffrey Albaugh’s guidance in witchcraft, Katie Blakwell of the Tine Croí school of Celtic Shamanism, and JoAnn Levine of the Reiki Healing Arts. Ann-Louise is a grateful member of the Crooked Mile Coven. By vocation she is a healer and end-of-life doula, while art makes a strong point of her personal pentacle.
