I have always thought of myself as a wizard, a hoarder of knowledge and craft. When COVID hit and I was stuck at home, I decided to take the plunge and get into making things with wood. My first tool was a scroll saw I bought from a pawn shop. It broke within an hour of use. Not to be deterred, I stripped the thing down to bits, cleaned it, checked all the connections, redid some of the wires, put it back together and it’s been working great ever since. Woodworking and wizardry go well together, both allow ample opportunity to solve problems. As I have gotten better at it, I have also grown to enjoy the feeling of creating beautiful things.
